Bill of Lading (B/L)

A Bill of Lading (B/L) is a legal document issued by a carrier to a shipper, detailing the type, quantity, and destination of the goods being shipped. It serves as a receipt for the shipment, a contract between the carrier and shipper, and a document of title, allowing the transfer of ownership of the goods. Most common types of B/L include: Inland bill of lading, Ocean bill of lading, Negotiable bill of lading, Nonnegotiable bill of lading, Claused bill of lading, Uniform bill of lading, etc.
